Rhinoplasty is the surgical process of changing the shape and function of the nose for aesthetic or breathing purposes. There are three main layers within the nose that we can manipulate to adjust the shape and form - an inner lining called mucosa, the outer skin covering, and the skeleton in the middle composed of bone and cartilage.
Why get rhinoplasty?
Due to various factors such as infection, trauma and genetics, one or more layers may be in excess or lacking. In addition, the function of the nose may also be affected and can manifest as a blocked airway on either side due to distortion of the structures inside.
As with all plastic surgery, both form and function need to be considered, particularly for the nose. Another essential aspect to consider is personal preference. During the consultation, we will discuss expectations and determine what is achievable with reconstructed images of your current nose.
